ABM - The Sun Mushroom from Brazil

Medicinal mushrooms are found all over the world: from the coldest north, where Chaga grows in birch forests, to warmer regions where ABM thrives and unfolds its sunny energy.

The name ABM – Agaricus blazei murrill – is attributed to the American mycologist W. A. Murrill. However, this medicinal mushroom is also known by many other names that reflect its origin, its sunny growth, or its special properties. In Brazil, it bears the name Agaricus brasiliensis, in reference to its home. Due to its preference for warm temperatures and bright locations, it is called the "sun mushroom" (Cogumelo do Sol). In its homeland, it is also called the "mushroom of life" – Cogumelo de Vida. Its delicate almond scent and taste earned it the nickname "almond mushroom".

Many medicinal mushrooms have a long history and spread in sometimes unusual ways. In the case of ABM, it was Japanese coffee growers who brought it from Brazil to their homeland and cultivated it there. From there, it found its way into the world.
